The first time a boy asked me to dance was when I was 14 and at my last year of horse camp. I had been crushing on the boy all week, and there was always an unfortunate ratio of boys to girls at horse camp so only the really pretty girls got asked to dance at the Friday hoedown. And so not only was I asked, but I was asked by the boy I LIKED.

I turned him down cold because I had never danced with a boy and I didn’t know how. Then he ignored me all day at the horse show on Saturday.
